Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had many companions during his journey to spread Islam across the Arab world and deliver the words of God to those who crossed his path.

Perhaps one of the most notable figures in Islamic history and one of Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) most well-known companions is Omar ibn Al Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him). He was so influential that he later became the second Caliph of the Rashidun (righteous) Caliphs, following Abu Bakr, after Prophet Muhammad's death. Under his rule, the Muslim Caliphate expanded extensively.

He was most famous for his love of justice, so much so, that he was named Al-Farooq (The one who distinguishes between right and wrong). His faith was so strong and so unwavering that Prophet Muhammad continually praised him during his lifetime.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) once mentioned a dream he had had: “While I was sleeping, I saw (in a dream) people wearing shirts; some (had shirts) reaching down to their chests, others reaching down to their knees, and others still down to their ankles, each according to the strength of his faith and his knowledge. `Umar was wearing a shirt that was so long that it was dragging (i.e. on the ground).” The people asked: ‘How did you interpret this?’ The Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) replied: “His commitment to the religion.” [Al-Bukhari & Muslim]

Omar ibn Al Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) was also one of the ten people that the Prophet had promised would go to Paradise upon their death, which is a great honor.

The Prophet once said: “I saw (in a dream) that I had entered Paradise, and there was (in it) a palace or a house. I asked: 'For whom is this?' They (the angels) replied: 'For a man from the Quraysh.' I was hoping that I was this man, but then it was said to me: 'This is for `Umar Ibn Al-Khattaab'”

Omar ibn Al Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) remains, to this day, one of the key figures in Islamic history and we shall never forget his fights for justice and how he dedicated his life to spreading Islam all over the world.
